Recipe for Class A1
Dorset Apple Cake

Ingredients

225g Apples, chopped, peeled and cored

1 Large egg

100g Demerara sugar

225g Self-raising flour

Pinch of salt

2 Tablespoons sultanas

100g Margarine

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C (350F).

  2. Rub margarine into flour and salt.

  3. Add sugar and apple.

  4. Add beaten egg and sultanas.

  5. Spoon mixture into a 20cm (8”) greased sandwich tin about 2cm (1”) thick.

  6. Bake on the centre shelf for 45-60mins. 

  7. Cool on wire rack for 10mins then remove from tin to cool completely.
